Fine on high settings but I dislike the controls

This replaced an older model of this induction cooktop. Installation was a nightmare because GE told me the dimensions were exactly the same as the old one (and they WERE exact according to their website) but the new one was thicker by 1.5" and it wouldn't fit until I had some carpentry modifications in my kitchen to lower the enclosure which holds it. After 3 months of use: I like how the new one has white circles showing the burner locations (old one was all black). I don't like how the new one has 2 small burners, 1 medium, and 1 large (old one had 2 medium, 1 small and 1 large). I mostly use medium burners and now I only have one. I do not like the new controls, which have you swipe an arc of lights to indicate the level (old cooktop had numbers 1 - 9 so medium was a 5, simmer was 3, etc.) I have to have it on high (which would be 7 to 9 on my old one) to do any real cooking. When cooking rice I used to simmer on 3 but on the new one it has to be set high (approx. 7-8) or the rice doesn't cook. Lastly, because the controls use a swiping motion to set them, the glossy glass around the contols gets covered in finger prints. The cooktop works OK on the higher settings but I dislike the controls and the lack of an additional medium burner.

Glass Surface flaws

The surface has visible scuff marks or rub marks from where the pans sit. This is because the surface is so smooth and shiny My old induction cooktop had a brushed surface and did not have this problem. These marks cannot be cleaned off as they are now in the surface finish.

The configuration of our new cooktop is similar to the GE we replaced. The controls are easy to use and we especially like the auto shut off when removing a pot or pan. It heats up quickly and the size fit in the same opening as the old one we pulled out so installation was very easy.

My experience with GE has been ok..

Replaced a similar GE ceramic stove top with a newer model. The newer model does not seem to bring as much heat as the older model. I was told I had to purchase a GE because the other brands were different sizes than the model I was replacing. The configuration is more practical with the sizes I use most in the front, with easy access but I would prefer numeric controls to better quantify and control how much heat I am cooking with instead of notionally thinking I am at about half power.. Based on experience with other products, I am not expecting it to last as long as its predecessor.

I enjoy the functionality and interface of this induction cooktop but I am SO disappointed in the quality of the glass top. It immediately scratched upon use and now has several deep gouges across the surface. The cooktop has been subject to normal, careful use, nothing rough or out of the ordinary. We had an older GE profile cooktop and had no issues with scratching. I expected more from GE and the Profile line. Because of a delay in installation (as happens with many remodel projects), I was unable to return it. I™€™m very disappointed and don™€™t recommend.

I had a Kitchenaid induction for 10 years. Loved that cooktop but it stopped working and repair wasn't an option. So I purchased this unit. This unit is very disappointing. Does not get hot enough. I am used to induction quick response. I should be able to boil water in a few minutes, not 20 minutes later! Not sure if I got a bad unit but this unit does not impress but since I don't have a money tree in my backyard guess I'm stuck with it.

The cooktop came as expected and works fine. I'm not a fan of the whining noises it makes. It heats pots and pans great! I would also like different size on all burners...but I choose this one so that one is on me. If you haven't used induction before read the instructions that come with your cookware...not just the sales blurbs! We bought a Cuisinart pot that said it was compatible but when it came it said it couldn't be used on high...and testing showed even medium high was too much.

We purchased this one because we really enjoyed the previous model that finally gave out. This one, however, didn't meet our expectations with its new burner sizes and temperture controls. We preferred the previous size for the medium burner and the controls were easier to zero in on a more precise temperature. Overall we're happy, but miss the old one.

Pan detect not working and other issues

Pan detect is faulty on 3 of 4 burners per minimum sizes in owners manual. I see responses to this issue from GE recommending larger sizes than manual. That's a red flag. I see responses from GE to other criticisms (in which I concur) stating you will let the design team know. That is bogus. We are working with the appliance store where we purchased this cooktop to return it for full refund. Will GE support the return or give excuses? Product is not worth the cost.

Our old pseudo induction cooktop's big burner died 5 years ago. We used a single one in its place for years. We finally decided to buy a new cooktop. This is the REAL DEAL. I love cooking with gas but haven't for 35 years until now. (Well kind of.) This stove heats up as fast as gas. It cools down as fast as gas. Functionality is easy. It's safe with the lock. Even if the pan is a little smaller than the burner, the perimeter that sticks out does not get hot. (Although you do need to use a pan close to the size or it'll tell you 'nuh uh'. When the pan is off, it shuts off automatically after a few seconds. (I DO turn it off, but it's still a good feature.) There's three different ways of adjusting the temp. I tell my husband every day how much I love this stovetop. I think he's jealous. I'd add a photo, but I can't seem to do it. Blame it on my boomer status...

Dear GE, We just want you to know how much we have not enjoyed this cooktop. Specifically the small center burner. We had to have GE service come to our house about eight times during the first year because that burner would either not turn on or would not adjust the temperature. Ultimately, we just settled and gave up. now it does not turn on if another burner is on. It does not reduce properly (as when cooking rice or a sauce). The rest of the cooktop while temperamental, Works. But we are sad to know that we have just a three burner cooktop not a four burner.

We previously had an older model of induction cooktop with digital heat settings. This was much easier to adjust the temperature-the gray dial does not allow fine tuning-it jumps 4 notch™€™s with each touch. I am finding this feature very difficult and makes my cooking time experience frustrating
